  1. this research group is looking for cures for all kinds of disease   http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/

  2. I just did an MS walk last month! Sell foot prints at stores and people can write that name of the person they love that has ms.

  3. I just had this great idea last night.

It was announced at work that the shredder truck will be here Monday, so anyone who had anything to be shredded better get it in the bin. That sparked this idea:

With identity theft on people's minds, everyone is afraid just to throw out stuff with their personal info, such as old checks, bank statements, credit card preapproved offers, etc. This is why the shredding business is so in demand.

Companies who deal in confidential information have the Shred-It truck come out and shred boxes of documents on site, because who wants to sit there feeding one sheet at a time into a dinky office shredder? It would take all day.

We can organize a fund raiser where the club members go door to door in teams, in a particular subdivision. They sell the homeowner a certificate of some kind (something they couldn't forge or duplicate) for $10 that entitles them to bring one box (no bigger than a copy paper box) of documents to be shredded, to the designated subdivision place (clubhouse? front entrance?) on the designated date & time. They can watch their stuff being shredded. Peace of mind for them, money for you.

Whether they use the certificate or not, you have the money in advance. You contract the shredder company in advance for the date and time. Around here, they make a one-time stop for $50 for about 10 boxes - call & ask for rates & price accordingly. If you sell 10 certificates for $10 each, you've taken in $100 and spent $50. Half your sales are profit!

This is duplicatable in each subdivision. Or you can make it a citywide thing, if you have teams willing to sell certificates in a wide area.

    Good luck!
