I believe there is. Originally science was about sharing new discoveries so that the other can push the envelope a bit further and share back. The internet came to life because of this. Take money and greed out of the equation and what wise person doesn't what to share knowledge? But now that even life is a patented comodity, I think the connection will soon disapear.

Yes.  The wise are extremely skeptical about when, where and how it is provided.
