im 16, just about to take my GCSE's.

i really want to work in Africa, helping out the people in poverty, i would love to either be a teacher or nurse out there.

however i really dont know how you go about getting a career in this, like what qualifications do u need jus to go out there and help, and who do i go to. i looked at the unicef website but the jobs they want all look really complicated. i just want to go out there and help these people.

please give me some advise on how i can do this and who i need to speak to.

thank you

  1. try these sites but you usually have to have a qualification eg teaching

  2. To work (i.e. get paid) to be something like a nurse or teacher you will need the proper qualifications, teaching or nursing.  What I would suggest is to continue in your education, go on to do A-Levels in your chosen topics, and plan through that time what you can do.

What you could research and plan towards over the next couple of years is taking a year out between A-levels and studying for your professional qualification to volunteer in Africa.

Do a google search on "volunteering africa" and loads of organisations will come up.  DO SOME RESEARCH!! There are lots of organisations, all offering different opportunities, dofferent levels of support and different costs involved.  Sped plenty of time working out what is the right opportunity for you.

    Good luck!
