Charl Schwartzel determined to steal the show at the Transitions Championship
After multiple successful finishes, Charl Schwartzel is in the field of the Transitions Championship, starting from March 15 to 18, at Copperhead Golf Course.
The Transitions Championship is organised by the US based, Professional Golf Association. The field is set and all the players are heading to Innisbrook Resort and Spa, Palm Harbor in Florida.
They will be competing for the title, $5.5 million purse, out of which $990,000 is the winning share and additional 550 FedEx Cup points will also be given.
Schwartzel, a 27-year-old South African professional golf player, is the hottest contender for the title. His impressive performances and top finishes are speaking loudly about his attractive form.
Luke Donald is also in the field of the tournament and holds a strong position. However, he was unable to maintain his top position this year and faced a defeat from Rory McIlroy in the golf rankings.
Donald was unable to impress the spectators on and off the course. He is not continuing his professional performances, as he did in 2011 and achieved different honours amazingly.
On the other hand, most of the renowned players are not in the field of the Transitions Championship.
Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods will not be playing in Florida, leaving potential chances for the others.
Hence, Schwartzel has ample chances to gain a lead over the others. His performance is up to the mark, and he has done a great job since January, both on the European and the PGA Tours.
He started the current season at the European Tour and played three tournaments in total. He displayed an amazing performance at the Volvo Golf Champions and finished on the fifth position impressively.
However, His appearance in the rest two was not so appealing, as he secured the 17th and the 68th positions.
Later, he had played the Accenture Match Play Championship, which was staged by the World Golf Championships in the US, in February.
He competed well for the title and was tremendous throughout the four-day tournament. Hunter Mahan was the proud winner of the event. Schwartzel finished on the 17th position and earned $95,000 in total.
Then he played the Honda Classic staged by the Professional Golf Association (PGA) in Florida. He was tremendous there and carded several birdies and pars. He amazed the spectators by scoring a 7-under 273, finishing fifth on the leaderboard.
It was the first PGA-organised event played by the South African. Finishing it in the top 5 is impressive and appreciable.
Schwartzel's current season is the most appealing one, as after the Honda Classic, he played another WGC staged event, named the Cadillac Championship.
It is also a mega event and is played every year. The field was filled with all the leaders and top-ranked players.
Hence, it was competitive and tough. To perform against such top-ranked players is difficult.
However, Schwartzel amazingly achieved the respect and attention from the spectators for scoring a 13-under 275.
He carded several birdies and the enormous scoring helped him to finish on the fourth position.
This was his best finish of the year and he is now heading to the Transitions Championship to record some great scores.
His improved performance is impressive and it is highly expected that Schwartzel will continue to show his strokes and scores at the Transitions Championship.
There are also ample chances for him to win the first PGA Tour title this year.
