The South African Charl Schwartzel exhibited a decent performance in his first round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship. As a result, he clinched the second place and shared the position with five other players.
Four golfers from South Africa, including Schwartzel, and a duo of English golfers share the second place.

Louis De Jager, Oliver Bekker and Darren Fichardt are the three South Africans except Schwartzel, who share the second place. The two English golfers are Steve Webster and Richard Bland.

Moreover, the approach shots Schwartzel demonstrated during his round were a delight to watch.
Although the South African played spectacular golf, he could not match the performance of the Frenchman, Gregory Bourdy.
The Frenchman led the proceedings throughout the first day, marking his dominance on the course.
Schwartzel played an exceptionally well structured attacking game. However, all was not going in favour of the South African. He mishit a few approach shots that went in sand bunkers and cost him dearly.
It seemed like a good start to the tournament for Schwartzel, who recorded three birdies on the first-nine. The birdies came on the 2nd, 6th and the 9th hole.
The back-nine of the course is the longer part of the Leopard Creek Golf Club. Schwartzel managed to card an impressive score of 35 with two birdies on the 12th and 15th hole.
The Leopard Creek Golf Club saw a wonderful round of golf taking place on the first day.
With the breath taking sights that surround the venue, the day was a treat for the fans, who enjoyed splendid golf and a touch of nature, at the same time.
It will be a test for Schwartzel’s nerves in the upcoming rounds. The tournament is likely to be nail biter, with numerous players having raised the level of their game to get their hands on the prestigious trophy.
