it generally WON'T if you DO NOT HOLD YOUR BREATH! do not engage in the "valsava manuveur" and you will be fine. i have been doing the Charles Atlas course for 2 years, and it's the best thing i've ever done.
again, do not hold your breath during isometrics. breathe out.
