Charles Barkley deems the saga involving Dwight Howard ‘bad’ for Basketball – NBA Update
The saga involving Dwight Howard and Orlando Magic has been at the forefront of NBA activities during this off season and it does not seem to be ending any time soon.
The prolific centre wants to leave Orlando, and had earlier made it clear that there is now way he is staying back at the South Florida franchise.
The franchise to which Howard wanted to be traded was the Brooklyn Nets.  However with the possibility of joining the Nets not looking possible at the moment, the rumours for Howard’s next possible destination continue to form
the headlines.
The whole saga has not set in well with one NBA legend, Charles Barkley who is known to speak his mind freely. In his recent comments, the legendary centre who is now a NBA analyst at TNT lambasted the whole scenario involving
D-12;
"The last 24 hours it's been all Dwight Howard, non-stop," Barkley said. "It's not fun; nobody wants to hear it. It's not good for the game, not good for the fans. I'm really sick of it."
The Dwight Howard drama dates back to last season. There had been reports that Howard wanted out of Orlando before last season, but then agreed to a sign an extension which bound him to spend another year at Orlando.
The details of the agreement were not revealed, but it was believed that the Magic management had promised Howard some significant improvements to the roster. However seeing how badly they did in the draft and with no big changes
done in this off season, Howard now wants an exit as soon as possible.
The centre has been single handedly carrying the franchise for the last seven years and seems to have had enough. Despite being a perennial All-Star and by far the best centre in the league, a championship ring still eludes the
Superman, and he is now seeking some help to fulfil his dream.
The Magic recently made a last ditch effort in convincing Howard to stay put, but that failed miserably. Howard is reportedly so annoyed at the Magic management that he does not even want to listen at a proposal.
Orlando on their part, want decent assets in return if they are trade Howard. Nets tried hard to put together one such pitch, but Magic didn’t agree. Houston Rockets and the Los Angeles Lakers are the two clubs which are presently
making strong efforts to land the centre. There have been no developments though, and it seems that the saga will continue on for some time.
