Charles Barkley rolls out some advices for LeBron James: NBA Update
Charles Barkley and Miami Heat superstar do not like each other – Period.
Barkley has been one of the biggest critics of LeBron James this past year. The entertaining TV analyst and former NBA legend gave LeBron a hard time since he came to South Beach. Barkley has always regarded LeBron James as a great
player, but the relationship turned sour last year due to Barkley’s constant jibes, to which LeBron has retaliated as well.
Recently Barkley was at it again and gave some pointers to LeBron James. The Miami Heat super star has had a torrid time since leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers last summer and attracted a lot of negative attention.
Barkley though has never been one to shy away from the limelight. A NBA legend in his own right, he is a man who does not mind ruffling a few feathers while uttering his piece of mind. He did it as a player and continues to do
it today, which is why he is one of the biggest draws in the NBA even as an analyst.
LeBron on the other hand is undoubtedly a special talent and arguably the best player in the world right now. His move to Miami last summer did not go well with his former fans, who considered it a defection, nor with the owner
of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who openly blasted the “Chosen One” over the move.
LeBron also made a number of P.R. blunders at the time. His announcement of the move via a broadcast and a staged party when arriving in Miami are prominent among them. James continued to draw negative attention throughout the
NBA season and the vitriol reached fever pitch during the NBA Finals, when people tuned in just to see LeBron fail.
Since he did not put in a good show at the Finals, the criticisms have refused to go away. Charles Barkley was asked about James during an interview for ESPN’s Heat Index, and the “round mound of rebound” had some sane advice.
First off, Barkley said he still regarded LeBron as one of the greats and had no personal beef with the Heat forward. He remarked that “King James” just needed to lighten up.
“Stop taking himself so seriously. He’s a great, great player. He’s a really good dude.”
Barkley also recommended for LeBron to go and have a talk with former greats like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. They are arguably two of the biggest superstars in NBA history and Sir Charles was of the view that there experience
could be of help to LeBron.
“I would ask him to go and talk to Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan … those guys who are really great like him. Every person who’s a star or who’s famous or rich or whatever, should always go talk to an older person who has been in
that situation.”
