Do religious people believe in that? Do you believe in religion only?

We had to do an essay at school about Darwin and the Islands.

  1. I'm confused. Are you asking if people believe in a person from history and a whole lot of land?

Uh, religious or not, yes there was a man named Darwin (he even wrote a book) and the Islands are still there.

  2. I don't have much knowledge about The Galapagos Islands themselves, so I won't go there.

Personally, I believe that God started life. I don't think he just put us on Earth in a blink of an eye. That doesn't make sense to me.

I guess I believe in Religion and Evolution.

  3. I am trying very hard to answer most of the questions here on YA about these particular subjects, but I have to admit that very few people read any of the Bible.  I have stated a fact that so few read, so, I will state it again!  "RELIGION" is man made!!  Religion....is a way, practice, procedure, name of procedure and practice regarding a certain belief.  It is always a personal sort of thing and because of that the person is associated with a "Religious Practice".  So.....that part of the question is answered, except for the question of WHICH religious people are you pointing your query to.  There are people that call themselves "Darwinists", therefore, they could be considered religious in that aspect.  Does this mean they are correct???   NO!!!  It simply means this is what their beliefs are centered around, it does not make their beliefs credible, anymore than anothers.  It's like saying "Everyone has a butt, only each butt belongs to the individual."

Charles Darwin POSTULATED a theory.....and it is still a theory,,,,,it has never been proven or stated as FACT!!!   So.....that being said, if you wish to beleive in that theory....fine.  I wish people would THINK before they try and push their theories on others, or pass their theories off as fact.  To push these issues as fact, makes a person look foolish and ignorant.  Please be considerate.  I am speaking to all these people on YA that think they are another Albert Einstein, not those that evoke their opinion in a fair manner, considering others.

Since you are asking the OPINION of others here, I would be willing to add my answer along with the other folk here, without saying or implying that my answer is the ONLY answer.

I truly beleive that Darwin was being a rationalist, taking into account the lack of technology that we have today.  Technology and Scientific research is bearing out that the Darwin Theory of Evolution is not conclusive in any shape or fashion, in being a FACT.  Personally, I beleive in the Bible and only the Bible.  Why, because over my years of education (40 yrs in Medicine) I have seen things that blows Evolution out of the water, but then again, that is MY experience, MY opinion.

The Galapagos Islands are like other areas of this planet that we have not been able to explore, that being said, there are species we have yet to see and explore and make known to the populace of this planet.

There are some very strange species living 3000 feet below the surface of our oceans, therefore and because we haven't been able to spend any REAL TIME that far down, we can only speculate what is there.

    Please understand this, I am not trying to be angry at anyone, BUT...to others here that talk as if they have concrete evidence as to the factuality of their postulence, let me say this;

SCIENCE is fallible and has been PROVEN to be so, that is why they call these areas of study......a PRACTICE.

A person of Science would never STATE anything that is less than 100% proven......as a fact.

  4. Depends on the religion

    some do, some don't

I accept science,   Darwin's theories are accurate.

  5. I am sure that no one is disputing Darwin's voyage on the beagle, christian or otherwise. It was a well documented voyage..

What is being disputed though, is the origin of life on earth, and by extension the reason for such diversity as seen today.

    I

  6. Well at least you're in a school where you will learn something, so that's good.

Some religious people do not believe in Darwin's Theory of the Evolution of Species, which is most unfortunate, since the evidence for it is overpowering. It's like denying gravity or atomic structure or the theory of blood circulation.

Usually, they don't believe it because a) they've never read it and b) they don't understand it even if they tried to read it.

There is absolutely no reason whatsoever that one cannot believe in God and in Evolution. This is a false dilemma created purposely by some religious people in order to install the Christian religion into public education (a very bad idea).

  7. The size of bird beaks getting larger, then smaller, then back to larger does not prove the theory of evolution. Darwin also based his book on intelligent people breeding different plants & animals. Darwin & evolutions today make the big mistake of thinking micro evolution leads to macro evolution. Micro evolution is really good evidence against the theory because one species cannot be breed into another species.

  8. Religious Folks believe in God not so much Science.   Nonbelievers are the ones who favor science.....

Personally, I don't believe in the hundreds of different religions which were ALL Created by MAN.    God said come together not form hundreds of different religions then judge and kill in his name.   God did NOT create religion, Man created religion.

In 1831 Charles Darwin set sail on the Beagle, and on this voyage, he took note of various species of plants, insects, and wildlife that were distinct yet closely related. Among the most famous of Darwin’s observed species were “Darwin’s finches.” He noted that there were fourteen species of this bird in the Galapagos Islands, all of which

appeared to have come from a common ancestor. The varieties that exist there today differ mainly in minor characteristics like the size and shape of the bill. The important thing to realize, however, is that all the new finches are still finches. They did not become owls, eagles, or turkey vultures. Nor did they become a whole new species, evolving into monkeys, kangaroos or prairie dogs. In other words, despite all the weight given to Darwin’s observations of these finches, there is nothing there that adds any credibility at all to Darwin’s theory that all life evolved from a common ancestor.  Today, Darwin’s theory has been chalked up as a rebuttal to the creation account found in the Bible, but in reality it is no such thing. First of all, the doctrine of fixity of species was a man-made doctrine and has absolutely nothing to do with the Biblical account. The Bible does not say that God only created one type of finch in the first place, nor does it say that different types of finches which may have migrated from different geographical areas cannot breed together. The important thing to understand is this: For the most part Darwin’s observations are not in question, but his conclusions are.
