Question:

Charles Dickens, A Tale of two cities, political systems?

What are the types of political systems described in the book and how did they impact the society at the time?

Also, I'd like to know about the historical setting of the book and what events helped shape the political system.

Any help is very much appreciated and it would be nice if you could include a page number or chapter (but you don't have to)

  1. Sounds like questions directly from a class assignment. There are quite a few sources online that can give you background on the tale. Just google the title, maybe with history in the subject line. Of course, the overwhelming backdrop is the French Revolution.

  2. Oh, I remember that book. I read it voluntarily, since we had to pick a classic to read for English class. It was a really hard read for me, I hadn't seen anything like it.

I forgot the specifics of the book, so I'm just gonna cheat and look it up. France was an aristocracy, and after the whole Revolution it was just a mess. England was a monarchy, I don't really know what kind though.

I'm sorry that I wasn't much help there, I think that you should find most of the info yourself. Good luck on this tough book!
