Charles Houchin seizes Men’s 200m freestyle gold – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Charles G Houchin of UNAT seized gold medal of the Men’s 200m freestyle on concluding day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 24-year-old Houchin demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the four-lap freestyle event and upset his opponents by snaring gold medal of the discipline.
With his alluring efforts, he remained nearly one stroke faster from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 48.93 seconds for gold medal.
The champion was trailed by Conor J Dwyer of LFSC-FL, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 49.12 seconds for second position.
The silver medallist was chased by Peter W Vanderkaay of OLY-MI, who remained nearly 2.70 seconds apart and pocketed bronze medal of the discipline by submitting a time of 1 minute and 51.98 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Alexander J Katz of SYS-FL, who remained considerably slower from his foregoing finisher and reached the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 53.85 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was obtained by Sebastien D Rousseau of GSC-FL, who remained one body length behind and posted time of 1 minute and 54.72 seconds.
Rousseau remained half body length ahead of Ryan F Murphy of BSS-FL, who proved his eligibility for sixth finest spot of the discipline by reporting a time of 1 minute and 55.34 seconds.
The 16-year-old Murphy was chased by Nicholas J Caldwell of SYS-FL, who tried hard to surpass his former finisher over the finishing end but stayed marginally slower from him and ended seventh.
Caldwell remained 0.17 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 55.51 seconds.
He was followed by Quinn A Poti of BD-FL, who secured eighth position of the discipline by posting a time of 1 minute and 59.53 seconds.
In addition, the championship concluded after the conclusion of all events while the position holders received accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
