Charles Houchin seizes Men’s 400m freestyle gold medal – 2012 GSC Summer Invitational
Charles G Houchin of UNAT seized gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle on final day of the 2012 Gator Swim Club Summer Invitational in Gainesville, Florida on Tuesday June 5.
The 24-year-old Houchin stunned the aquatic crowd with his scintillating form in the 400m discipline. His quickest response to the start played a crucial role in his victory and he reached the finishing end for gold medal.
With his invincible efforts, Houchin remained considerably ahead of his opponents and tapped the finishing end for gold medal with the timing of 3 minutes and 50.49 seconds.
His title-claiming effort remained 9.41 seconds faster from Peter W Vanderkaay of OLY-MI, who secured silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 3 minutes and 59.90 seconds.
Third position of the event was obtained by Alexander J Katz of SYS-FL, who was 0.29 seconds behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 00.19 seconds.
The bronze medallist was followed by Sebastien D Rousseau of GSC-FL, who remained 2.60 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall for fourth position with the timing of 4 minutes and 02.79 seconds.
Rousseau was chased by Nicholas J Caldwell of SYS-FL, who remained nearly half body length behind and finished fifth in the event with the timing of 4 minutes and 03.33 seconds.
The 19-year-old Caldwell was chased by her team-member, Derek B Pridemore, who remained 2.39 seconds apart and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 05.72 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh position of the discipline was secured by Dan J Wallace of GSC-FL, who remained almost four seconds apart and hit the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 09.89 seconds.
Wallace was secured by Yoelvis Pedraza of DANA-FG, who remained almost two seconds behind and clocked an effort of 4 minutes and 11.45 seconds for eighth position.
The crowd appreciated commendable efforts of all participants in the 400m event while the position holders received awards and accolades for their commendable efforts after the session. In addition, the championship ended after the completion of all planned events.
