Charles Pic thinks Caterham will be under no pressure to score in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Caterham driver Charles Pic has said that they will be under no pressure to score their first point in the 2013 Formula 1 season as long as they improve their performance as compared to this year.
The Leafield based squad have secured 10th place finish in the constructors’ championship in the last three seasons and have beaten their main rivals, Marussia and HRT.
Even though, the team principal, Cyril Abiteboul has recently said that they earnestly need to improve their performance in the next season so as to make their position stronger in the championship. However, Pic has expressed that they will have no pressure
to score points in the coming year, but insisted that they must come up stronger as compared to this season.
“Caterham have always been the first of the three 'new' teams so I think what they've produced so far has been good,” Pic told the official F1 website. “But we can do better and our target is to do better next year. But I don't think we are under pressure.”
Besides, he said that they know in which areas they need to make improvements and they will try their best to make the necessary developments during the winter testing.
“We know where we want to go and that is the most important thing for the team,” he said.
In addition, he said that they have got the potential to enhance their pace and he is confidently looking forward to perform well in the next season.
“I think Caterham has big potential, I'm 100 per cent confident of that. We just have to work very hard to improve ourselves to be better next year and to take a step forward,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the French driver has signed a multi-year with Caterham and is very happy with the deal. Furthermore, he is targeting to achieve better results for his new team in the next season.
