Charles Rozoy grabs Men’s 100m butterfly gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Charles Rozoy of France grabbed gold medal of Men’s 100m butterfly in S8 category on day one of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Thursday, August 30.
Rozoy devastated hopes of his opponents in the double lap butterfly event and sprinted his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his persistent efforts, Rozoy stayed just a stroke ahead of his strongest challenger and earned his way towards the finishing blockade by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 01.24 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Yanpeng Wei of China, who stayed 0.42 seconds slower from his former finisher and earned silver medal of the race by producing a time of 1 minute and 01.66 seconds.
Wei was followed by his team-member, Maodang Song, who remained 0.33 seconds slower from his foregoing swimmer and transpired on the finishing end as third position holder by submitting a time of 1 minute and 01.99 seconds.
Song was traced by his compatriot, Jiachao Wang, who suffered a loss of just 0.01 seconds from his preceding swimmer and ended his race in fourth best place by reporting an effort of 1 minute and 02.00 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Denis Tarasov of Russia, who stayed only 0.05 seconds slower and tapped the wall for fifth position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 02.05 seconds.
Tarasov was trailed by Sean Fraser of Great Britain, who remained nearly four seconds behind and secured sixth best place of the race with a timing of 1 minute and 05.99 seconds.
Seventh position of the swim was obtained by Evgeny Zimin of Russia, who stayed 0.35 seconds slower and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 06.34 seconds.
Zimin was followed by Jaime Bailon Galindo of Spain, who failed to surpass any of his competitors and posted a time of 1 minute and 06.35 seconds.
Rozoy was overjoyed with his impeccable effort in the butterfly discipline and collected his gold medal at the victory ceremony of the event.
