  1. I'm assuming you are talking about Charles Stuart, there were two of them and they were both kings of England, That makes them fairly important in its self.  The first one Charles I believed in the Divine right of Kings to rule as they wished, and the Parliment of the time disagreed with this view, so England had a Civil war which was won by the roundheads or parliment, and a republic was setup lead by Oliver Cromwell.  Charles I was excuted for Treason.  When Oliver Cromwell died, Charles I's son Charles II was given the Throne and ruled with parliment until his death.

  2. Charles Sturt was an English explorer (in Australia) who "discovered" the Darling River, followed it to where it joined the Murray and followed the Murray to the sea. (Needless to say he required the help of the locals). He also did further explorations that disproved the existence of an inland sea. He is important because the Darling and Murray rivers became the "highways" that enabled the expansion of agriculture and white settlement in south-eastern Australia.

  3. i dont really know much about him but completely ignore the answers about Charles Stuart because its a different person. charles sturt has significance in australian history and the sturt desert pea is named after him, try typing charles sturt australia into a search engine and see what comes up you should get a lot of information.

  4. Charles Stuart or Charles I was king of England from 1625 to 1649 when he was executed - beheaded - after losing the English Civil War to parliamentary forces under Cromwell.

His name in Latin is Carolus which became the name for the Carolinas (North and South) in the USA when Charles Stuart, the son known as Charles II, became king of England after 1660.

You can look these two Charles Stuarts up if you want more details - if these are the "Charles Sturts" you are asking about.
