Charles Yang and Randy Ma to meet in the final of the 2011 Northern California Junior Open
Charles Yan and Randy Ma of California will meet in the final of the 2011 Northern California Junior Open, as both shuttlers got rid of their opponents in the semi-final of the Boy’s Singles Under-18 category, on Sunday, May 29.
The top seed, Charles, hammered Daniel Chow in a straight-set contest, whereas, Randy took three sets to beat Jeffrey Kuo in the semi-final of the event. The final will be played on May 30.
Charles opened his campaign against Daniel in surprising fashion, as the number one seed of the event managed a superb lead of 11-6 in the first-half of the game.
After the break, Charles continued dictating the pace of the rallies and made his opponent move in all corners of the court. The top seed remained ahead of Daniel in the whole set and won it by a 21-15 score.
In the second game, Charles stunned everyone by playing world class badminton. His strokes execution was incredible and he played a planned game. He finished the second game by a 21-8 score on the board.
In the second semi-final of Under-18 Boy’s Singles, Randy, who is the second seed in the event had to work hard to get rid of Jeffrey, who remained close to his opponent in the whole match. Randy clinched the first set by a 21-15 margin.
Jeffrey put up a wonderful show by playing superb badminton in the second set. The scores progressed with equal pace and reached 20-20, where Jeffrey managed to level the match by winning the set with a tight margin of 22-20.
The second seed, Randy, became quicker in the deciding set and reached 11-7 by playing a flawless game. Jeffrey found himself helpless against his opponent, who was playing with complete control. Randy worked well in the second-half of the set and won it
by a comfortable 21-14 score on the board.
