Charley Hull ready to prove her mettle at major event
Charley Hull is quite thrilled about participating in the Kraft Nabisco Championship, slated to be played on March 29 at Mission Hills Country Club. She said that she will confidently face big names in the field.
The Kraft Nabisco Championship is one of the major tournaments on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) and is going to feature players like Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.
The major championship has offered a chance to several young players to prove their mettle on a bigger stage — something appreciated by analysts and players.
Hull recently drew some sharp criticism for her decision to prefer the Kraft Nabisco Championship over the Curtis Cup.
According to the reports, Hull had already been preparing for the Curtis Cup to represent the Great Britain & Ireland against the United States at Nairn, Scotland.
However, the English star stunned the officials of the LGU (Ladies Golf Union) after she received an invitation from the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Hull was not expected to miss to the Curtis Cup, as English and Irish fans and officials had already pinned hopes on her to help the struggling Great Britain & Ireland against the fearsome United States.
Although Hull had tried her best to clear up misconceptions about her giving a miss to the Curtis Cup, she was excluded from the Cup’s squad, even though its schedule does not clash with that of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Hull said that she never meant to underrate the Curtis Cup and she still wanted to participate in the event, given the flexibility of the tournaments’ dates.
“I’d love to play in the Curtis Cup, and I had planned to take part in the training session at Nairn,” Hull said.
“I pulled out of a professional tournament in Florida (Florida’s Natural Charity Classic on the Symetra Tour) so I could participate in the training session”.
Now with the Kraft Nabisco Championship coming up fast, Hull has immersed herself in her game.
She said that her biggest aim is to gain experience, as the field of major events often features competent players.
“I’m going to have fun, gain a lot of experience, make the most of the atmosphere at the Kraft Nabisco and prepare for the future,” Hull said.
