Charlie Adam hails Luis Suarez’s performance in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Sunderland – EPL News
Newly signed Liverpool midfielder, Charlie Adam, has hailed the outstanding performance of the Reds’ talismanic attacker, Luis Suarez, in club’s 1-1 stalemate against Sunderland.
The Uruguayan striker was initially doubtful to play in Liverpool’s opening fixture of the 2011/12 English Premier League season after the former Ajax attacker spent majority of his summer playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390.
Suarez was declared the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as he scored four goals to help Uruguay clinch the continental title.
The 24-year-old striker missed all of Liverpool’s pre-season friendly matches and manager Kenny Dalglish also confirmed few weeks ago that Suarez could eventually miss club’s opening few fixtures of the next season as he was given extended rest by the Anfield
management.
However, Suarez was a surprise addition to Liverpool’s squad as Dalglish opted to start with the Uruguayan striker. The 24-year-old, who was extremely impressive in his first six months at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, continued his form and hugely impressed during the game.
Suarez started the match against Sunderland positively and went on to win the penalty in the seventh minute. Though he missed from the spot, it took Suarez five more minutes to score his first goal of the season, when he headed the ball home from a Charlie
Adam set-piece.
Adam expressed his contentment over playing with Suarez and believes that the Uruguayan striker has proved his worth by scoring a goal in Liverpool’s first match of the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season.
The 25-year-old midfielder told Liverpool’s official website, “It's good to see him back because he's a top player. Everybody has been talking about how good he is. I think you could see why he is at this club. Like I say, he's a top player and he took his
goal well.”
Adam was also making his competitive debut for Liverpool and the former Blackpool skipper expressed his happiness over getting an assist in his first game at Anfield.
"It was nice to get the assist but the important thing is the team winning,” the Scottish international added.
Liverpool started off their Barclays Premier League campaign pretty well as they looked more dangerous and well prepared than Sunderland. The Reds’ took an early lead through Suarez but failed to hold on to it as Sebastian Larsson’s impressive volley clinched
a crucial point for Sunderland at Anfield.
Adam has spoken of his disappointment over the draw, claiming that the Reds’ were looking for all three points to start the season. However, the midfielder is confident that Kenny Dalglish’s men will learn from their first few games and will improve further.
"We are disappointed with a draw. It's not the best start but there are still plenty of games to go," Charlie Adam concluded.
