Charlie Brenneman to face Daniel Roberts at UFC on FX 1 in January 2012 – UFC News
American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Charlie Brenneman and Daniel Roberts have been given a bout against each other in 2012. According to the officials of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), their fight will take place
at UFC on FX 1 in January 2012. Their fight, which will be contested for the welterweight category, would take place in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena.
For the moment, the news of their bout has been confirmed but the officials still have to reveal the nature of the bout. It is still unclear whether their fight would be part of the main fight card at UFC on FX 1 or would be a
bout for the preliminary part of the card.
30-year old Brenneman, nicknamed The Spaniard, started his professional MMA career in April 2007. He defeated Marcello Olivera at Extreme Challenge 81. Brenneman’s UFC debut came in March 2010 at UFC Fight Night. He has a successful
UFC debut by winning his bout against Jason High in three rounds. For his 31-year-old opponent at UFC on FX 1, Roberts, nicknamed Ninja, also made his UFC debut in 2010 when he faced John Howard at UFC Live event in March 2010. He was not lucky as he lost
the bout in the first round.
Brenneman has had a successful run in 2011. He took part in three bouts and won two of them. He defeated Amilcar Alves at UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 event in January 2011 followed by his win over Rock Story at UFC Live event in
June 2011. Entering into the UFC on FX 1, Roberts would have to focus on his recent fights. He lost two fights successively, which may give Brenneman some edge over him during their bout in January 2012. Roberts lost his bout against Claude Patrick at UFC
129 in April 2011 and later to Rich Attonito at UFC Live event in June 2011.
For Roberts, his bout against Brenneman would be a do or die fight for sure. After losing two fights in a row, Roberts would need to win at UFC on FX 1 otherwise; the UFC management would consider letting him go from the UFC. Robert
would also know this fact and would focus on winning the bout. However, he would be facing Brenneman who would also consider a win as a possible welterweight title bout in the future.
