Charlie Wi leads, Dustin Johnson runner-up in the round two at Pebble Beach
Charlie Wi is leading by three strokes in the second round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Friday, February 10, 2012.
Wi, a 40-year-old South Korean professional golf player, scored a 69 and 3-under par on Friday and gained a lead over Dustin Johnson by three strokes.
The weather was really unfavourable for the players. It was drizzling in California and the wet weather became a hurdle for the rest.
Whereas Wi escaped the rainy effects impressively and reached the highest position on the leaderboard.
On the course, where most of the players were facing difficulties to play, Wi scored three birdies and an eagle on the thirteenth hole.
His outstanding performance was the best as compared to the others. Now the Korean is standing on top of the leaderboard by making a 12-under par 130 strokes in total.
Dustin Johnson was trapped in wet conditions and could not compete well against the leader, Wi.
Johnson is now on the second position and three strokes behind. He was equal to par and was also unable to finish under par.
This tournament is filled with celebrities and stars. A large number of spectators were present on Friday who supported Floridian native, Johnson.
Brian g*y (134), Vijay Singh (136), Danny Lee (136), Padraig Harrington (134) and Brendon Todd (136) are tied at the third position.
They all scored an 8-under par and presented tough competition on the course.
They all scored impressive birdies at Pebble Beach. The interesting part of this tournament is that there are three courses where golfers are performing.
The first course is Pebble Beach Golf Links. The second is Monterey Peninsula Country Club and the third and the last one is Spyglass Hill Golf Club.
The third one is the toughest course at Pebble Beach. Johnson, Singh, Lee, and Todd performed extremely well on it.
Scoring impressive birdies at such a difficult course shows their amazing game and passion to win the title.
On the other hand, Wi played at the Pebble Beach Golf Links, easier than Spyglass Hill GC, with Harrington and that is the main reason for their top positions.
Similarly, g*y played on the Monterey Peninsula Country Club, which is also the easier one, and scored five birdies and finished tied for the third.
Now there are two days left for the tournament and all the players will be planning to defeat each other by delivering their best at the Pebble Beach.
