Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers: Franchise players in each NBA Team – NBA Feature Part 4
Charlotte Bobcats – Michael Kidd Gilchrist
The Charlotte Bobcats set new records of frailty last season when they ended up with the worst winning percentage ever in the history of NBA.
Michael Jordan’s team, plagued by the trade penchant of the man himself, showed no spine in the shortened and most of the seven wins they did manage were early in the season when other NBA teams were also settling down into the
groove.
The worst league record however ensured that the Cats has the highest probability of landing Anthony Davis, the man who was unanimously touted at the number one of this year’s class. However, on June 28th, the Basketball
Gods again decided to diss Jordan and his team and New Orleans Hornets ended up as the team with the number one pick in Davis.
The Bobcats received number two pick and they selected Anthony’s team mate at Kentucky Wildcats, Michael Kidd Gilchrist.
Gilchrist may not be as talented as Davis, but he certainly is the best player on the Bobcats roster even before he has played a game for them.
The 6 ft 7 in 232-pound forward has a great motor, decent game IQ and is a beast on the defense. Moreover, he will be willing to prove himself next season, which makes him all the more dangerous for opposition across the league.
Cleveland Cavaliers – Kyrie Irving
LeBron James is a thing of the past, and the Cavaliers are now Kyrie Irving’s team.
The reigning NBA rookie of the year showed last season as to why he was the number one pick. Irving averaged 18.5 points, 5.4 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 51 games, but more importantly showed the poise and control required to be
a team leader.
He is good if not prolific shooter from inside the arc and beyond it and can penetrate opposition defenses with his speed and guile.
All he needed this season was good player at the number four draft pick. But, like last season when the Cavs selected Tristan Thompson at 4, the Cavs made a surprise acquisition of Dion Waiters. The vibe was that the Cavaliers
saw a new Dwyane Wade in the Waiters, but given his summer league performance, it seems like Irving will again have to carry the franchise on his shoulders next season.
