Charlotte Bobcats and New York Knicks interested in former All Star Josh Howard – NBA News

The Charlotte Bobcats are said to be considering signing forward Josh Howard to their line-up for next season as they contemplate on completing their roster.
Howard, who hails from Wake Forest, is currently in Charlotte working for out for the team in the hopes of landing a spot on their final roster.
The Charlotte Observer reports:
“Former Wake Forest forward Josh Howard is doing some workouts with the Charlotte Bobcats this week, president of basketball operations Rod Higgins confirmed. The Bobcats’ interest in Howard at this point is still exploratory,
as they consider ways to fill out their roster. The Bobcats would like to have another power forward, and have previously considered Antawn Jamison, Kris Humphries and Carl Landry, who all signed elsewhere.”
Howard is a 9 year veteran in the NBA, who has played most of his career with the Dallas Mavericks. He was at the peak of his career back in 2008-09, but has seen a constant decline in his averages over the past few seasons as
he struggles with injury issues.
Howard played for the Utah Jazz last season and was putting a decent effort as a role player coming off the bench, but injury shortened his stint with the Jazz as well. He averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 43 games for Utah
last season, out of which he started in 18 games.
The Bobcats have been looking for a power forward to fill out their roster for some time now, and their plans of signing Antawn Jamison or Kris Humphries did not work out. Howard will be a good addition to the team as a role player
as he will give the team some depth and make the 2nd group stronger, while also providing the roster some experience. He could also turn out to be a good mentor for number 2 pick in this year’s Draft, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
Yahoo Sports has also reported that Howard is being considered by the New York Knicks as well. As a former All Star who can score points and get rebounds, Howard can be a valuable addition to any team provided he manages to stay
healthy. With the Knicks expressing interest in Howard as well, the Bobcats should make a move quickly if they do not want to lose him like Jamison and Humphries.
