Charlotte Bobcats’ guard Gerald Henderson improving with every season: NBA Update
Charlotte Bobcats’ guard Gerald Henderson seems very excited on his future with the franchise. He is relatively a new comer in the National Basketball Association (NBA) where perfection is a key characteristic of any player. The
player has already spent two years in the league and still learning his game with every season.
Henderson made his way into the NBA with great confidence and played his two years with extreme persistence. Although he could not influence many in his very first year, but those who watched have him on the court acknowledged
his talent and athleticism.
The former Duke Blue Devils star was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats in 2009 as 12th
overall in the NBA draft. Henderson failed to impress in his rookie season. Part of the reason for his lacklustre performance was the fact that Larry Brown, the former coach of the Bobcats has tendency to rely more on his proven offensive option and gave
him less playing minutes. Michael Jordan, who is the owner of the Bobcats, along with his management however showed belief in Henderson and gave him some more time and confidence to adjust with the NBA’s environment.
Henderson played on his credentials and improved drastically on the court in the very next season. After averaging 2.6 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per game in his rookie season he improved to 9.6 points, 3.0 rebounds
and 1.5 assists per game after playing a total 68 games.
His three pointers are still not up-to the mark but he is learning very fast to develop as a good perimeter shooter. His speed and attacking ball play is what give him an edge.
Henderson’s performance has helped his team to win 34 games in the 2010-2011 regular season. The Bobcats are also rebuilding their current roster and Henderson is an essential part of this team-reconstruction process. The league
has locked its players and until this lockout will be lifted from the players Henderson and the Bobcats must prepared themselves to play in the next season with full thrust.
