Charlotte Bobcats intent on trading number 2 Draft pick in return for a marquee player – NBA Report
With the 2012 NBA Draft just 10 days away, trade rumours are at their peak.
Among all the trade talks going around in circles, one about the Charlotte Bobcats trading their number 2 pick is getting the most buzz. The Bobcats are reportedly trying to trade their prized pick in the NBA draft in the hopes
of landing a solid player that can become the cornerstone of the team in years to come and attraction attention to the basketball club again, especially among the city and fans.
Anthony Davis is the unanimous number 1 pick in the NBA draft this season and the New Orleans Hornets are looking forward to signing him. With Davis out of the question, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Thomas Robinson are the next two
players expected to be picked up as the number two and three pick.
The Bobcats apparently do not want to wait till their number 2 pick is developed and can help land victories for the team. They instead want to go for a solidified star.
Alex Kennedy at Hoopsworld has reported:
“In recent weeks, Charlotte has been in contact with a number of teams and they’ve made it clear that the No. 2 pick is available. However, multiple league sources have said that the Bobcats are looking for a lot in return. They
would like to add a face of the franchise player, which is why they’ve reportedly expressed interest in young stars like Rudy g*y and James Harden. If the Bobcats can’t use the pick to make a splashy move, they’ll likely draft Thomas Robinson.”
It is unlikely that the Bobcats will land a player of the calibre of Rudy g*y or James Harden because they are a below average team at the moment with a long road ahead before they can think about playoff contention.
A star player would not want to move to the Bobcats and risk his whole career. If all else fails, the Bobcats can look forward to signing either Gilchrist or Robinson, both of whom have the talent and skills to become solid players
and stars in the coming years if given the right staff and an environment to shine.
