Charlotte Bobcats meet with Quin Snyder for head coaching position – NBA News
Charlotte Bobcats have interviewed Los Angeles Lakers Assistant Coach Quin Snyder on Monday in Chicago, a source close to the negotiations has told the Associated Press. Snyder was interviewing for the vacant post of Head Coach
of the Charlotte Bobcats.
Snyder is the 10th person to have been interviewed by the Bobcats as their search for a new head coach continues. He now joins a list that includes former Portland coach Nate McMillan, former Utah coach Jerry Sloan and
a few assistant coaches. They also interviewed Orlando assistant coach Patrick Ewing, but it was later reported that Ewing had been removed from the list of probable candidates. Snyder was the former head coach of the Austin Toros and Missouri, and is currently
an assistant coach to Mike Brown at the Los Angeles Lakers.
The source further said that the team intends on interviewing one more coach before listing down the final candidates which have then have a meeting with team owner Michael Jordan. So far, all the interviews have been handled by
team General Manager Rich Cho and team director of basketball operations Rod Higgins.
The Bobcats had the worst season in NBA history, finishing with a 7-59 record this season. After the season, the team management decided not to renew the contract of head coach Paul Silas and instead opted for finding a new coach
for the team.
Charlotte are planning to finalize the new coach within the next couple of weeks, as they also have other issues that require their immediate attention. The Bobcats have the overall 2nd pick in this year’s NBA Draft
scheduled in June. After finishing with the worst record in the NBA this season, the Bobcats had the highest chance of landing the # 1 pick which could have guaranteed them the unanimous # 1 draft pick Anthony Davis.
However, to the surprise of analysts all over the NBA, the Hornets won the # 1 pick and the Bobcats had to settle for the 2nd pick. They now have to go through the list of possible candidates as the # 2 pick is not unanimous
and there are several players in this year’s draft that have the chance of being recruited # 2.
