Charlotte Bobcats trade Stephen Jackson to Milwaukee Bucks in a three way deal – NBA Update
The Charlotte Bobcats have agreed to send their veteran shooting guard Stephen Jackson to the Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team trade involving Sacramento Kings.
The Bobcats will acquire Milwaukee’s shooting guard Corey Maggette in return and Sacramento’s seventh pick Bismack Biyombo from the Thursday’s NBA draft. Charlotte carried on with their number nine selection and drafted University
of Connecticut Huskies’ prolific guard Kemba Walker.
The Sacramento Kings will receive Bucks’ 31 year old guard John Salmons and the rights to Brigham Young University’s dynamic player Jimmer Fredette, who was drafted by Milwaukee with the 10th overall pick.
The Bucks will not only benefit from the brilliance of Jackson, Charlotte Bobcats’ point guard Shaun Livingston and Sacramento Kings’ Beno Udrih will also be sent to Milwaukee. Bobcats’ 19th pick in the draft, Tobias
Harris will also make his way to Milwaukee.
Jackson, who has more than 19 million dollars and 2 years left on his contract, is going to play with the seventh team in his well travelled NBA career. This might upset the superstar as he has been switching teams constantly.
According to some sources, Stephen Jackson is not happy with the three way deal which will put him in Milwaukee’s uniform. However, Bucks general manager John Hammond thinks that there won’t be any chemistry issues and the superstar instead might be the answer
for all of their question.
"The most important time for us is when Stephen speaks his mind in the locker room, and when he speaks in the locker room, it's about winning. And he proves that. The guy, he's won most every place he's been. I hope that he does
speak up. We need that, we need leadership. I don't think it's going to be a chemistry issue at all. I think he's going to be maybe a good dose of what we need." Hammond said.
John further stated that although it’s not easy for any player to be traded away however it’s the team’s responsibility to make him feel comfortable and they will do that for sure.
Milwaukee Bucks’ coach Scott Skiles also suggested that there will be no issue with Stephen and said, "He's a competitor and I don't anticipate any issues at all. He gave me no indication that he had any issue whatsoever. The main
thing is, get guys here, get them in, see what we're all about. I'm sure he's going to like it."
In the last season with the Bobcats, Stephen endured a hamstring injury which not only reduced his playing minutes but in effect damaged Charlotte’s late push towards the eight seed in the Eastern Conference. Jackson averaged 18.5
points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in the 67 games he played during the 2010-2011 season. He is certainly capable of more and can definitely provide a boost up to the Bucks, who desperately need some aggression and leadership on their front court.
