Charlotte Bobcats waive Boris Diaw – NBA Update
On Wednesday morning Boris Diaw's agent announced that the veteran and Charlotte Bobcats have reached an agreement for a buyout and he can climb on board with any team of his choice.
It is said that both parties reached an agreement amicably and the reason for his departure is to play with a playoff team.
"Losing was tough this year”, said Doug Neustadt. “He really wants to be able to participate on a playoff team."
Diaw was in the final year of his contract and still owe $ 2million of his $9 million salary cap it is not cleared that how much money he has waived off. But what is for sure that he was not happy with the worst team in NBA and was yearning to leave them
for good.
The Bobcats are nesting on the bottom of Eastern conference with 7 wins and 37 defeats in this shortened season and this team was never a niche that Boris desired.
Bobcats guard Gerald Henderson concurred.
"It was kind of known that Boris wanted to go somewhere else, Boris has been one of my friends since I got into the league. I wish him the best. He will be great wherever he goes”.
It is said that he got into a skirmish with Coach Paul Silas that resulted into him being ousted in most of the games; he played in only 2 of last 8 games.
He has averaged 7.4 points, 4.3 assists and 5.3 boards per game in this season as he played 37 games and started 28 of those.
His reduced playing time in the game was affecting other players as well, who considered him to be a centrepiece in the game.
Paul Silas was not pleased with his self centric approach.
"I like a player who is really committed to not only the team but to himself and then doing the best he can as a player," Silas said. "Some of the things that would go on, like not shooting the ball, passing all of the time, that doesn't help us”.
Boris was traded into Bobcats along with Raja Bell and Sean Singletary from Phoenix Suns in 2008 in a trade that landed Jason Richardson and Jared Dudley on Suns’ bench.
Things were fine before the arrival of Silas, the two couldn’t rapport accordingly and that resulted into conflicts which had its repercussions on the team performance overall.
The 29 years old forward is eligible to compete in the playoffs after the legal trivialities are dealt with, he will be signing with a new team and rumour has it that San Antonio Spurs can be an option.
However Bobcats will not bringing in any player on the slot vacated by Boris any time sooner.
