Charlton’s Top Offer fails to impress and is unlikely to compete in the Irish 2,000 Guineas
Despite his best efforts, Top Offer fell short of all expectations, as he finished sixteenth in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas Stakes, which took place at Newmarket on 5th May, 2012.
Mounted by jockey, James Doyle, the runner lacked pace and could not keep up with the rest of the competition.

As a result of this disappointing performance, trainer Roger Charlton has decided that the runner needs to run in an easier race - which will suit him more.

The good to soft surface of the track did not work well for him.
The trainer told the press that:
"Top Offer travelled well but the writing was on the wall from some way out as James (Doyle) said he was unable to handle the conditions."
The three-year-old colt, who is owned by Khalid Abdullah will take on easier challenges and he is likely to bypass the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
The trainer commented on this:
"I hope to start him off in a conditions race and build him back up with time and patience for the better races, but he is unlikely to run in the Irish 2000 Guineas."
Whelped on 29th March, 2009, the colt ran a brilliant career maiden as he landed an immense victory over the Sir Michael Stoute trained, Pulverize, by 3 ½ lengths in the Don Deadman Memorial European Breeders' Fund Maiden Stakes
at Newbury on 12th August, 2011.
Cityscape, also trained by Charlton for the same owner, also faced a major setback as he finished tenth in the BMW Champions Mile at Sha Tin, Hong Kong in a line-up of fourteen runners on 6th May, 2012.
The son of Selkirk, out of mare Tantina, raised expectations of the punters after a massive victory at Meydan, where he defeated, Mutahadee by 4 ¼ lengths in the Dubai Duty Free Sponsored By Dubai Duty Free in March, 2012.
The trainer stated that the runner will be sidelined for a while before a decision can be made about his future:
"He will return home later this week and have a quiet period before discussing future plans with his owner."
