I am a Pakistani qualified Chartered Accountant and trying to find a job in Ireland net head hunters sites. To date have applied for 20 odd jobs since last one month but did not get a single call/email. Am I following a wrong approach? Pls guide. There are hundreds of jobs on UK & Ireland job websites and loads of CAs here are going to UK (not sure about Ireland), I am qualified, have plenty of relevant experience and perfect for the jobs I have applied for. Pls help what to do.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. I think you actually need to be there and pushing yourself in person - agencies get thousands of applications every day from hopefuls, but until you are there and in front of them, you're just a name on an e-mail.

So get yourself over here, get a good suit and tart yourself up, get hard copies of your CV and start pounding the pavements. You need to contact possible employers directly as well as job agencies.

    Thumbs up for you!

  2. perhaps you should get in touch with a recruitment agency here......... Grafton recruitment is a particularly good one, im sure if put in a search engine you will find it, they are quite efficient in placements especially office type jobs..

good luck with your job hunt...

hope you enjoy your move here

  3. It's probably not much use to you but have you tried signing up with a recruitment agency? Some of them can be vultures and absolutely will not leave you alone until you get a job, which can be very useful.

Other than that, I'm afraid I'm drawing a bit of a blank. As far as I'm aware, you're following the usual procedure. Have you tried putting an Irish address on your CV? To make it seem as if you're in the country already? That might help a bit. I know when I was applying for jobs a few years ago (nothing like yours, just part-time work) I had a Wexford address and didn't hear anything from 30-odd places. It was only when I put a friend's Dublin address down that I heard back from them.

That might not be much use, but it's my two cents anyway. There might be too many people and not enough jobs, if you know what i mean. I'm afraid I wouldn't be familiar with the market at all. But good luck in your search.
