What does it mean if you are "Chartered'

  1. It means you have passed the examinations set by, and are a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. There are different institutes in different parts of the world, for example there is a separate one for Scotland than for England and Wales (ICAEW) .     Your answer is 100% incorrect.... it IS a qualification usually carrying the designation ACA.

    In many parts of the world this is one of the legally recognised qualifications that allows you to audit and 'sign' a set of accounts.
