Question:

Charting bbt after BCP question?

I was on BCP for 11 years and just recently stopped. This is my second cycle off the pills and I have started charting to learn more about my body and make sure everything is working before we start TTC in about a year.

I have noticed that my temps have been high, from CD1 to today (CD13) all temps have been between 97.7 and 98.1, no thermal shift yet so, I don't think I O'd. But....

One bbt website said that temps are normally in the low 97's during the first phase and you've probably ovulated if its in the high 97's or over 98...... I'm confused..... do I run high or do you think something is wrong with me? Could this be due to BCP for so long??

  1. You'll definitely need to chart for a few more cycles before you can see if this is normal for you. It could be that you just generally have higher pre-O temps. When you do ovulate, you should see your temps go up even higher than your pre-O temps.

If you are concerned thought, you can ask your doc for blood tests to check your thyroid. Sometimes very high temps or very low temps can signify a problem with your thyroid that needs to be medicated to resolve.

I would just wait until you're done with this first month of charting and then if you're still concerned after that, have your thyroid checked.

    Dust to ya..

  2. Every ones body runs at different temps that just probably your normal. I thought something was wrong since mine only runs at 96's but the Dr said it was ok that was normal. As long as its normal to you.

  3. Your temps look fine. Mine are always around 97.7 or 97.9 before ovulation and around 98.5 after ovulation. I've been charting for 21 cycles and I agree that it takes a few months to see the pattern. Be sure to chart at http://www.fertilityfriend.com
