Charting temps. after a miscarriage

I am new the whole charting thing. I got pregnant pretty fast last time but I need to know what is happening with my body and have considered charting my temps. Although if I haven't had a period yet since my miscarriage when do I start charting? Can I just start whenever or do I have to wait until the beginning of a new month or until I get my period?

  1. Charting is a great way to know your body a little more. You can start charting right now to get a feel for it but since you haven't seen your period yet and you might not know where you're at in the cycle the data won't be as beneficial. Go ahead and start now and when your period comes keep charting and probably after that cycle you'll have the hang of it and will know for the second complete chart what signs to look for. Hope that helps you. I'm sorry for your loss and just know that it becomes easier every day. Good luck for getting pregnant again!!!!

  2. You can start whenever, but it is best to start on the first day of your period (but you could start now to get the hang of it).  Get a basal body temp from from the drugstore (about $8) and put it by your alarm clock.  Test FIRST thing in the morning at the SAME TIME every day.  Don't get out of bed, drink water, pee, take your temp first.  Fertility friend has a good tracking system online or you can do it on a chart (there are tons of free ones on the internet.)  Make sure that you get at least 4 hours of sleep before you test as well.  Indicate on your chart if you have stressful days, or major changes because that can change your temp.  You should see between 1/10th and 1 degree shift which will indicate you have ovulated.  Your temp should stay around this higher temp until your next period.  Once your temp goes up it is really too late to try.  BBT is for seeing if you ovulate and planning for future months.  It helped me because my doc could see I did not ovulate.  Best of luck to you and baby dust!
