  1. i always thought it was because they couldnt use hand gestures.

when my cats do that, i just touch the tongue. they pull it in.

  2. this is called tongue tipping and is considered a fault if the cat does not (or cannot) pull the tongue back into the mouth. if you touch the tip slightly your cat should pull her tongue back in. it's caused by abnormal formation of the jaws (being too short to leave enough room for the tongue). this is a problem in many breeds like persians, exotics, and himalayans. chartruex were outcrossed to persians during WW2 to keep the breed from going extinct. some pet quality cats got the short jaw trait from persians. this is from the CFA website:

The Cat Fanciers' Association considers a severe underbite to be a fault. If severe enough, it can be a disqualification. Tongue-tipping, also a fault, is often associated with underbites. Allegedly, some cats can be trained to keep the tongue in the mouth. Underbites are very hereditary, as is tongue-tipping. So it is important to know what is behind the lines as far as crooked or undershot jaws - it may be passed on.

  3. `very handsome feline.
