I have a Chase checking account, and today when I went to check my account status, it shows that I had -$0.27 so Chase charged me $32 for insufficient funds. I don't get paid until Monday, so I have to wait 5 days before I can get my account out of the negative... My question is ...Will Chase charge me $32 everyday until I get it out of the negative? Because at this rate I'll have about $-180 when I get paid! =(

  1. you will have to call them ..each bank does their insufficient fees different but it is possible

  2. I am having the exact same problem with Chase. I was overdrawn by 39c. They charge the 32 once, then another 10 for being under balance, then add more fees, and it has happened before. They end up charging about $70 in fees altogether.

I am going with another bank, that's just outrageous for less than a dollar overdraft.

No, it isn't 32 every day.

  3. Chase totally sucks. I feel your pain, going through something similar with them today. I would try to get atleat $50.00 in there today to avoid any overdrawn penalties. If this is your first time being overdrawn on the account, you can call them to have the charges reversed. They told me that they are authorized to to do that 2 times a year. Good luck.

  4. They will charge you the fee every time something (such as a check or a pre-authorized payment) is presented for payment.  So if you have other checks out there, you can expect to see more NSF fees.

Note that your $30 ebay money will not cover the overdraft (which is now $32.27) , you'll still be in the hole.  You need to get some more in there.

  5. As long as nothing else posts against your account you will not get charged again, most banks do have a rule that if not caught up in 5 business days they will charge you a daily fee. If this is your first overdraft, go to the manager and explain that it was a mistake most times they will credit you with the charge, although this does take a day or two. We all make an occasional mistake thats how you explain it.
