Chase Utley will play Minor-League rehabs and Cliff Lee will return on Wednesday - MLB Update
Saturday proved a fortunate one for the Philadelphia Phillies as the starter Cliff Lee and one of their premier hitters in the line-up, Chase Utley show signs of immediate comeback. After having a bullpen session, Lee felt nothing wrong in his arms. He is
set to start against the New York Mets at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday.
Utley, on the other hand had his time in the camp. He will go back to Florida for playing Minor-League contests if his knees are rehabilitated completely. Not even a single game he has played in the season as yet, the Phillies have missed him immensely.
His ability to hit distances and load bases renders him a significant component in the Phillies' offence. He boasts a .290 hitting average with 188 career home-runs.
Down in the Minor-League rehab games, fast-paced restoration of his groove will be an ideal situation for him. If the pain in his knees wears away permanently without leaving its remnants, it will be far easier for him to achieve this.
Utley finds himself vastly improved and believes that as soon as he assumes his responsibilities in the line-up again, he will love to continue from where he left.
“I feel like I’ve built a good foundation and I’m going to try to continue to build on that with the team,” he said.
For him, that injury has brought precious knowledge to him about his body and that he will have never gained otherwise. Based on it, he can keep himself fit in future for a longer time-period now.
“I think I learned a little bit about how my body is really, ideally supposed to move to be the most efficient and pain-free,” he said. “I took some different ideas of stretches and strengthening things [that] I'll carry for a while. It was a great experience.
Obviously I didn't like being away from the team and not being a part of what is going on here."
Although, there is no official declaration as yet about when Utley will join the Minor-League games, in light of his statement, one can say that it is not far.
Both Lee and Utley have so much to deliver the Phillies in the season. Sooner they return, the better will be for the Phillies, which are struggling in the season at the moment.
