Chasin’ Rainbows to track down the competition in the Hardings Catering Services Apprentice Handicap
The Class 6 Hardings Catering Services Apprentice Handicap has attracted fourteen three-year-old and above runners for the mile, three furlong and 196 yard challenge at Brighton race course on Tuesday, 9th October. For some entries it will be their first experience at the track, while for the rest it will serve as an extended exposure.
The four-year-old bay filly, Chasin’ Rainbows, has been active eight times during the current season, and has won twice out of those outings. The first success of the season was at Brighton.
She won the Laines Best Handicap on 8th August, 2012 at Brighton race course over a mile and two furlongs. The favourite entry was paired up with jockey, Richard Hughes.
She did not break into a high gear right after racing out of the sixth gate, but did start putting in effort towards the final two furlongs of the race. Her potential was truly tested inside the final furlong, and she did not fall short of courage, defeating Volcanic Jack, by a neck’s margin.
Piccolo’s daughter next got the reason for celebration in the Book Horizons Restaurant At Wolverhampton Racecourse Handicap on 29th September, 2012 at Wolverhampton over a mile and 1 ½ furlongs.
The last race that she dominated during the same season was at good to soft surface whereas this one was standard.
She became the mount for jockey, James Doyle, this time around. Following just the pattern that got her to the winner’s enclosure the last time, she reserved the energy in the rear, and shot into speed only towards the concluding furlong of the race.
Leading just near the line got her deprived of a massive winning margin which was squeezed to a head’s mark as Celtic Step settled in as the runner-up.
The ground conditions today are soft, and the distance is more than what she has previously excelled over. The 5 to 1 entry has drawn the fifth gate, and will be accompanied by jockey, Thomas Brown.
She will need to look out for the one who shares identical odds, 5 to 1, Lady Romanza, who landed the race at Warwick last time when she was active, and is highly likely to put up an improved form today.
