Chasing up progress of application form?

I submitted my application a week last Friday and no one has contacted me yet to arrange an interview, should I chase it up or leave it.

My husband is in the same boat! Check the closing date for the application first, then check the information pack to see if there is a date by which they will contact you if you are successful. Sometimes they say "if you haven't heard from us by [a certain date] assume you have been unsuccesful on this occasion".

Also check to see if they will contact referees before inviting you for interview.

If all these don't lead you anywhere then phone up and ask if the vacancy has been filled, and whether they would be able to give you any feedback as to why your application was unsuccessful.

Sometimes due to economic conditions companies decide to withdraw a vacancy, but don't let anyone know (this happened to my husband when he applied to a job vacancy given to him by the Job Centre)
