the highest-attended event in the history of Thomas & Mack Center. The show has sold 19,186 seats, leaving behind the Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield showdown, which saw a number of 19,151 attendants, as reported by Fightnews.
“Viva Chavez and Martinez,” said Top Rank’s Bob Arum. “The last two tickets were purchased just before 2 p.m. PT and our sellout has produced a paid gate of over $3 million. How appropriate that on the eve of the 20th anniversary of Julio Cesar Chavez vs.
Hector Camacho, the Thomas & Mack’s fourth highest-attended event [17,972], which took place on September 12, 1992, that Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. surpass his father’s record in an epic fight of his own.”
