Cheap Books on Amazon?

I see a couple books i want as low as like 8 cents.... wants the catch are they just really S****y?

I've never bought anything that inexpensive, but it is more than likely used, and probably slightly abused.

I always buy my books from amazon and as long as I pay attention to the details "used, like new" "used, new condition but cover slightly torn"  things like that, I don't mind paying the low prices.  

Most "stores" are honest with you in their descriptions.  You'll find things that low so they can get rid of overhead.

I spent ten cents on a hardback and when I received it I was actually surprised at the good condition it was in.

Dont' forget, you're paying shipping too.

They probably are used books that people and some stores are selling through Amazon. I have bought several used books from Amazon, and the "catch" is that you have to pay $3.99 shipping on each and every book you buy, even if they are from the same seller.  And the super saver shipping probably only applies to the books Amazon is selling - not those sold by a third party through Amazon.

I noticed that I had bought several books from one particular seller, so I went to their website and found that the books were actually cheaper on their website than through Amazon, once you added shipping.

The site is Better World Books. Their books usually start at around $3.50 and they offer free shipping in the US. They ship quickly (I usually receive my books in under a week) and the condition of the book is usually better than the condition noted on the site. I would highly recommend you check this site before thinking about buying used off of Amazon. I am sure you will be satisfied, as long as you don't mind used books. This is also a great place to find hard-to-find or out of print titles that might not be available at Amazon or that are extremely high priced.
