Cheap Gas and Electric Companies in Maryland?

Does anyone know any cheap gas and/or electric companies supplying power to MD. In MD you are allowed to switch between providers so if anyone knows of a cheaper provider than Allegheny Power please let me know.

Government is your friend.  The Public Service Commission has a guide for residential customers looking to buy from an alternate electricity supplier.

But they only indicate that electric customers have a choice.  I see nothing on their website about natural gas.  Perhaps you should give them a call?

BTW.  Your standard provider is also a competitor with the other suppliers.  You might try contacting them to find out what their "free market" rate is.  It could save you the trouble of having a new mains installed (that's a several hundred or even thousand dollar job).
