  1. Tijuana, but be careful at night they kidnap Americans and hold them for ransom

  2. Find a good Resort. Wait till the end of the summer. We went last year during the first week of August  for 5 days for $800 in Puerto Vallarta at the RIU. Lots of fun stuff going on all the time.

  3. how far the south you want to visit, I would recommend you to cross the border and travel to Monterrey from there you can catch a plane whenever you want to, there a really cheap airline that literally can take you all over the country, I would recommend you to visit my hometown, Veracruz, it is cheap full of history and  it is at the coast of the gulf of Mexico, you can buy a round tickect from Monterrey to Veracruz for 90 usd the most expensive or if you are lucky for 40 usd tax included, my recommendation would be crossing by TX (McAllen) get a bus to monterrey and that's it. good luck.

  4. Cancun is a very cheap place to visit on a budget. Supply and demand is key consideration to finding cheap airline tickets, and since Cancun is "spring break Mecca," airline tix are very cheap. Traveling off-season is key as well. Also, if you're going to rent a car, reserve one ahead of time rather than renting one when you arrive. This can save a LOT of money.

Now, just because you're landing in Cancun doesn't mean you have to stay there. You can take a bus (if you don't rent a car) a little ways south to get out of the expensive resort areas, but you're still on (or very near) the beach. Look for pensions or "mom and pop" hotels rather than resorts and American hotel chains. Generally, if you're outside a city (even just a few minutes), rates are much cheaper.

Another thing to keep in mind - you don't have to eat at restaurants every nite. A visit to a local market can bring you closer to culture. Pick up some food items to picnic on the beach, have a relaxing time, and save some mulah.

  5. Mexico is such a huge place.  Can you give us more detail on what you might want to do while there?  Thanks.
