Question:

Cheap accomodation for a year in Paris?

I'm planning to come to Paris in September and wanted to know the various options available to me as a student.

I'm going to be on a shoestring budget and am looking for cheap but safe accomodation for women.

I've heard of Convents run by Nuns which are cheap. Is it true? How possible is it to get accomodation there? How do I get in touch with them?

  1. If you aren't planning to work (just hang out and visit for a year) try au pairing.  It's like babysitting/housecleaning for free room and bored plus they pay you a but on the side.  Usually they only take 3 - 6 month au pairs but you could always find another once your there.  Almost everyone in europe takes au pairs.

  2. As a student you can make use of the services of CROUS (Centre Régional des Oeuvres Universitaires et Scolaires). CROUS assists students in many ways including helping them with accommodation and running student dining facilities where you'll find cheap eats.

I suggest you contact them: http://www.crous-paris.fr/
