Cheap accomodation in Ottawa??

Well, I guess that depends on how you define "cheap". Also, would you be looking for apartment, house rental, short term, long term...

Accommodation close to any downtown core of any city is bound to be more expensive. I would try looking through either: http://www.mls.ca or http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/

I agree that the Hostel in Ottawa is a cool and cheap place to stay, it's right downtown and it's a former jail, so i think a lot of the rooms are in former cells, it would be a super cool experience. If not, just check out kayak.com or priceline.com, there are a few Travelodges and Days Inn and the likes of them.

Well if you don't need anything fancy, I recommend the Ottawa Youth Hostel. It's right downtown and you can sleep there for 25 bucks a night.

Oh and for added fun, it's supposed to be haunted! It's the site of the last public execution in Canada.  The top floor is still preserved as it was in 1862...pretty interesting place to visit.
