Question:

Cheap and good NYC Italian restaurant for someone who's not a big fan of Italian?

My roommate doesn't like Italian (she thinks it's blah), so I'm looking for a place that will change her mind. She said she'd agree to go with me if the place was cheap. Obviously we live in Manhattan, so it will never be THAT cheap, but I'd love to find a combo of tasty and affordable.

I'd like a place that's fun, cheap, and just really good. And it would be amazing if dinner came with bread to dip in oil and vinegar, as she loves that. Affordable wine is also a plus.

Any ideas?

  1. How about Olive Garden??

  2. You should take her to "Little Italy" downtown. You will have a plenty restaurants to choose from. Most of them have a menu posted outside, so you can take a look at the prices and specials.

  3. La Giara 3rd near 34th is pretty reasonable and they do the oil and vinegar thing. Wine list has some bottles around $30.

Also, Pesce and Pasta on Bleeker between 6th and 7th.

  4. Katz's Delicatessen on Houston at Ludlow. Order pastrami on rye, have a pickle, and a Dr. Brown's soda. Nothing else. You won't have to order anything else.
