Cheap car hire in Rome?

Question

Has anyone actually used a company and hired a smallish car from Ciampino airport in Rome, and would you use them again? Thank you.

I always use airportconnection.it.  They are great.  Another great company is romecabs.com.  They will pick you up right outside of baggage claim and take you to your hotel.  Check out their websites.

i know someone that uses hertz in ciampino and they get a lancia ypsilon. he has never had a problem. we get our 9 seater there aswell when we go. they are the cheapest, i've shopped around - a lot!

edit - its true what the woman above says about the drivers - seriously

no but I got a taxi from the airport and had to shut my eyes the whole way...although I adored Rome I have to say it has the worst drivers I have ever known of...and I have been around a few cities in the world. My husband had to recommend that I just shut my eyes until we got to the hotel because they are all so scary.The holiday was full of the worry of having to take a cab back to the airport again....like I said I adored Rome and it is just beautiful and the people were friendly...just be warned about driving there!!!
