Cheap electric guitar amp for a beginner?

I'm just starting off on electric guitar, and I was wondering what kind of amp i should get? I'm interested in eventually playing some hard rock or metal. So what kind of amp would be good for that kind of music?

    $100 at guitar center

    (better than and would cost $600 for one even close to comparison 10 years ago!!!
