Question:

Cheap family holiday not too far from UK?

I am expecting my first baby in January and am looking into booking a holiday for next June. Thing is i don't want to go too far as i don't like the thought of a long flight with a baby! i would go on a flight up to 3 hours long each way and would like a cheapish beach holiday for two weeks just to relax and unwind. Have you been anywhere nice this year that wasn't too expensive? also if you know of a site that rents cheap villa's that would be great too. It will be me, my boyfriend and baby, Thanks!

  1. Congrats on the forthcoming baby..... fingers crossed for you, it's so exciting when it's the first one!

Advice from one mum to another, you are right not to go too far afield, but at 6 months they are pretty hardy but still sleep a fair bit so 2-3 hours flight is manageable

If you want cheap - well as you know that's difficult given the drop of the pound in the last 6 months.  So in order to get decent prices you have to look outside the Euro-zone.  A couple of ideas spring to mind - namely Croatia with it's gorgeous beaches - but as it gets more popular, it also gets more pricey, therefore you could also look at going down the coast a little more to Montenegro - more undiscovered (but a beautiful country with great beaches and really friendly people) but a little gem in waiting.  If that doesn't take your fancy then you could also look at Turkey - although again, with increasing popularity comes increasing prices

We take the kids (2 years and 7 months) to Bosnia and Montenegro every year and are considering Turkey for the end of this year or next year as well, so I have done a bit of homework in advance.

Anyway, hope it all goes well and good luck with everything

  2. Spain maybe. price varies which part you want to go, like Barcelona is probably the most expensive place. Its about 3 hours on a plane.

    =)

    Xx

  3. Euro Disney. Went there with my 12 week old baby, it's geared up for children and you can go on Eurostar so no need to fly.

  4. prague, its nice and not 2 dear

  5. How about The Algarve? I'm sure if you seacrh around you might be able to find a reasonably priced holiday, and the flight is only a couple of hours

Look for holidays in Vilamoura....not quite as commercialised as Albufiera, should be nice and peaceful. Has a nice marina, surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.

  6. Nicest and cheapest holiday would be in Sozopol, Bulgaria, mid July. Here's a choice of various types of accommodation:

The flight to Bulgaria, Burgas Airport, is not more than 2 and a half hours.

    Balchik is also nice:

    Godd luck:)

  7. Ireland?

  8. Channel Islands are great.  Not too far, warmer climate and no language problems.  Good luck with the new baby too.  Have a nice holiday.
