Cheap flight: texas to germany?

i need to make a trip to germany this winter (dec. 19-dec. 31)

and it's very important. how can i possibly do this? i'm on a budget, and need the cheapest flight i can get. or- would it be better to go by boat?

No it will not be cheaper to go by boat.  If you could find a cruise on that route, you'd be paying for transportation but also several days' worth of food and lodging.

Just go to orbitz.com, kayak.com, expedia.com, travelzoo.com, priceline.com, etc. and see what tickets cost for your particular cities.  If it's too expensive, try different dates or other nearby cities.

Have any buddies in the Air Force? If so, they can get you on a cargo plane to Ramstein AFB. No charge. Can't say it'll be fun, but Its cheap. If you don't have USAF friends, make some. Quickly.

Christmas time can be a really expensive time to travel.  I do not think a trip by boat would be much cheaper.  Flying is much quicker and any extra cost is worth it.

You can try the different travel websites to see what the prices are and then go to the airline's website to see if you can get a better price.  Or you can look for vacation packages and try to buy a ticket and hotel.  Sometimes you may find a good deal and the vacation package ends up being cheaper than if you simply bought an airline ticket.  If you choose not to stay at the hotel, then just don't show up to the hotel.
