What is it called when you get cheap flights abroad because you carry a parcel for someone in your luggage for a person in the country you'll be visiting? I'd also really appreciate some details about it. Couriers is it?

  1. Yes, it was called courier travel.  Sadly, the very few, extremely rare--and not always cheap--seats that were occasionally available from a few large gateways before 9-11, have now all but vanished.  I think a better strategy is to apply your travel flexibility--which was needed in abundance when a few seats could still be had through couriering--and instead hunt down the cheapest possible fare that gets you near your desired destination(s).  For that, Farecompare.com, ITASoftware.com, and Bookingbuddy.com are invaluable.  Best of luck.
