  1. I have family in Singapore and I fly back pretty often. If you can find a fare for $800 round trip taxes and fees included, book it, because that's really cheap. Most of the time a roundtrip ticket from LA to Singapore is about $1,300, inclusive of airport fees and taxes, but the prices range anywhere from $800-$2,500 on economy.

The prices also tend to fluctuate daily, so I would suggest checking every day. Singapore airlines is the best airline to fly by far, but depending on when you book, their prices may be higher than other airlines. Cathay Pacific is their closest competitor so check there too. Also, it's sometimes better to book directly from the airline than from a discount site like Expedia.

Really, you just have to do a bit of shopping. I would suggest flying into Singapore rather than Malaysia, though; Changi Airport is beautiful and much more organized. Good luck!

  2. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a cheap flight any more, especially over seas. fuel prices are outrageous!
